Mehrnaz (Maggie) Khorami is an experimental musician, sound artist, and sound engineer based in the Netherlands. She studied Sonology at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague and has abackground in classical violin and Fine Art.
Her artistic practice includes sound and light installations, collaborative audiovisual projects, and live electro-acoustic performances. Maggie’s music is characterized by layered dark electronic textures, and the seamless integration of her voice with a custom-built electronic violin. She draws inspiration from societal discord, political and social contexts, and the intricacies of human interaction, creating sonic experiences that evoke emotional depth and complexity.
In her artistic journey, she pushes the boundaries of traditional violin performance by exploring experimental techniques and innovative methods. By merging unconventional approaches with advanced technology, she navigates the chaos and complexity of the modern world, using music as a medium for both personal and collective expression.
